Accepts Compulsory ICJ Jurisdiction Suffrage: 18 years Executive Branch: The Executive Branch is currently an interim government formed after rebel uprising in early 2004. Legislative Branch: The Legislative Branch is currently crippled due to terms expiring. Reelections have not been held due to disagreements between the opposition and president Artistide. This should be remedied in 2004 due to departure of Artistide. Judicial Branch: Military: Exists on paper but was disbanded by President Aristide after he returned to power following a military coup. Police Force: 4,000-5,000 for entire country. Poorly armed and trained. |
